Caramelized Chicken

The other night I was scrolling through my pins on Pinterest for a really quick and simple dish I could make with the limited ingredients I had available in my kitchen (honestly, I was just trying to procrastinate going to the grocery store). Since I had a few chicken breasts available, I decided to try a caramelized chicken recipe that was posted by Haiyens Kitchen.

This is a quick and painless three-ingredient recipe with supplies that I generally always have stocked in my kitchen.

I combined the brown sugar and a packet of the Italian dressing mix in a medium sized bowl. Since the chicken breasts I was using were pretty big, I cut them in half (after trimming off the fat).

I placed the coated chicken in a foil lined 9x13 pan and sprinkled the remaining mixture over the chicken before placing it in the oven.

After about 15 minutes, I flipped the chicken and placed it back in the oven. For larger chicken breasts, they should stay in the oven till closer to 20 minutes before flipping.

I put the oven on broil for about 2 minutes, then removed the chicken from the oven. While it was still hot, I took a spoon and took a little of the glaze from the bottom of the tray and drizzled the chicken with it.

Conclusion: For being so simple, this chicken turned out delicious. The chicken was moist, had a lot of flavor, and wasn't too sweet. I paired mine with a little couscous and it was a perfect dinner.

Caramelized Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

2.5-3 lbs Chicken Breast
1 packet dried Italian dressing mix (zesty Italian also works)
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

 Instructions:

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line a 9x13 pan with aluminum foil.

- Combine brown sugar and Italian dressing packet in medium bowl.

- Remove fat from chicken breast and coat with the brown sugar mixture. For larger chicken breasts, they can be cut in half along their width.

- Place the coated chicken in the foil lined tray. Sprinkle any remaining brown sugar mixture over top the chicken before placing in the oven.

- Cook for 15-20 minutes (varies based on chicken breast size) and then flip each piece over. Bake an additional 15 minutes. Broil for 2 minutes before removing from oven.

- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
